scenic designer

Born and raised in Italy, Cecilia’s academic and professional background is articulate and diverse. Through her BA in Philosophy she developed her critical thinking and analytic eye, while with her Diploma in Art History she further pursued her interest for the visual arts and more specifically for the contemporary practices and aesthetics. A graduate of the MFA program in Theatre Design and Production from the University of British Columbia, Cecilia designs for the stage and the screen, focusing on the scenic design practice.

As a designer, Cecilia thinks of herself as both a visual storyteller and a space designer. Her aesthetic is suggestive and evocative, often abstract and minimalistic. She treats space as another character—one that evolves with the narrative and reveals new facets of the story. As an artist, she explores the connection between emotions and materials, feelings and textures, often introducing a sensorial component to engage audiences beyond the visual.
